About the Program
The Washington Rush Soccer Club is proud to provide a number of programs outside the normal realm of training, competition, and soccer related activities. One of those programs is the College Advisory Program or C.A.P. This program is run by C.A.P. Director Kevin Sakuda and is provided to our boys and girls teams U15 to U19.
The program is set up to serve the college bound player in a number of different areas. Starting with the freshman year of high school and continuing through their senior year, this program provides information and guidance in such areas as:
| > College Preparation | > Information on both academic and athletic endeavors |
| > Admissions Counseling | > Review any information that the players may have prepared themselves |
| > College Athletics | > Discuss any questions that they players may have |
| > Recruiting | > Discuss any questions that the parents may have |
| > College Contact Preparation | > College test prep assistance |
| > ACT/SAT Guide | |
| > College Research Assistance |
Attention Juniors:
SAT Registration Information:
If you missed the registration for the January 28 SAT, there is a Standby option for you. The cost is $43.00 but you will need to go to the test location on the test day, JANUARY 28, and see if there is a spot available.
Go to http://sat.collegeboard.org/register/sat-dates for Standby testing information.
Why take the SAT test now?
First, with a few exceptions, colleges do not require you report all of your scores. You can chose.
Second, the SAT has a Question and Answer service. This allows the student to take the test and then get the test and answers and the correct answers mailed to their home. This can be a great study guide! This service is only offered in the October, January and May SAT tests.
Every junior should consider taking the January and/or May SAT and if a student does decide to take the SAT on either or both of these test dates, that student should definitely order the Question and Answer Service. Note that they do not offer the Question and Answer Service on the March, June, November, or December SATs. Also, note that there is an $18 charge for this service.
There are only 15 days left to register on time for the SAT for March. Remember: you should take the SAT more than once, and you cannot take this test on the same day that you take the SAT Subject Tests. SAT Subject Tests are required by many schools. These tests are not offered every test date and not all subjects are offered all the time. These subject tests should be taken immediately following the end of the semester of your AP classes.
Go to http://sat.collegeboard.org/register/sat-dates to register for and see all the SAT test dates and locations for 2012.
ACT information:
If you missed the ACT February 11 test date registration, there is a Standby option available.
Go to http://www.actstudent.org/regist/standbytest.html for ACT Standby information.
The ACT does offer the same type of question and answer option on the April and June ACTs. This is called the Test Information Release Service. I highly recommend this service for the same reasons I think every student should order the Question and Answer Service.

SAT/ACT/SAT Subject Test scheduling:
SAT/ACT/SAT Subject Test scheduling:
It is important to look at your soccer, academic and family schedules and compare dates to the SAT and ACT test dates. Look for conflicts like State Cup, high school state games, tournaments, soccer camps, AP test dates and family winter/spring vacations.
Is it possible to take the SAT or the ACT in the fall of 2012?
Yes, but be wary of the college application deadlines for Early Action or Early Decision. Also consider that you will be in the "academic mode" more at the end of your junior year, than after the summer break.
Which test is better for you to take, SAT or ACT?
Go to http://www.princetonreview.com/sat-act.aspx for a comparison. SAT tends to have stronger vocabulary requirements, and the ACT has a science section. This is just one example of the test differences.
