Coach
Stefan grew up in the Snohomish area and attended Snohomish High School. After graduating third in his class, he went onto Western Washington University to earn an industrial design degree. He currently works in Everett, and his passion for soccer has never wavered. At a young age he got involved in multiple sports and was taught the value of work ethic, dedication, and the commitment to excellence by his old football coach. He continues to instill those values in the young soccer players he coaches today.
Stefan got his start in coaching as an assistant for a recreational team his daughter played on. He then eventually took over as the head coach as it was apparent that his background and experience in the game would be a better fit for leading the team. Stefan enjoyed it so much that he has been coaching ever since at multiple levels; recreational on up to premier. He now has over 10 years of experience coaching and has made steps to improve his knowledge of the game. Most recently, Stefan earned his US Soccer “C" level license and holds 5 certifications from the World Football Academy which include different levels of football tactics and analysis.
As a coach one of his proudest moments came when his 06 girls team reached the quarterfinals of the Presidents Cup, where they narrowly missed out on a semifinal berth. As a dad, it came when his oldest daughter scored a goal to advance to the finals of Presidents Cup. It so happened that two Rush teams competed in the final that year so Rush won either way! Stefan is a family full of soccer players and they are huge fans of the Sounders and try to attend matches when they can. He and his wife continue to play outdoor and indoor soccer and their daughters continue to compete for Washington Rush. They own four dogs (3 boxers and 1 doberman) and when they are not on the field, you may be able to catch them on the mountain snowboarding. Stefan is also a certified snowboard instructor.
